Court of Judicial Discipline Acquits Judge Salavati

Following lodging a letter of complaint by imprisoned Gonabadi Dervishes against judge Salavati to the Court of Judicial Discipline in 1391 (2012), after several months of a delay in grievance investigation, the court officials found no violations in the case of Judge Salavati and ruled that he is acquitted.
According to Majzooban Noor, a writ of non-prosecution was issued for him while the deputy chief justice of Revolutionary Court in his report which submitted to the Court of Judicial Discipline.

After judge Salavati’s acquittal, this dossier has been sent to Special Court for Government Employees and so far, its Branch 10, has summoned jailed Dervishes to the court twice, but due to an illegal requirement for the use of prisoners’ uniform, handcuffs and fetters during the transfer of prisoners to outside of prison, they could not appear before the court.
In the letter that Dervishes addressed the Court of Judicial Discipline, they demanded investigation into judge Salavati ‘ violation of law. The charges being made against Judge Salavati, who is known for his harshness towards political prisoners, include stripping of right to legal defense, failure to comply with the defendants’ rights, imposing punishments that exceed that prescribed in the law, imposing sentences that are contrary to the charges in the indictment and intervention in medical treatment in violation of the law.
According to Majzooban Noor, seven imprisoned lawyers and Gonabadi Dervish rights activists at ward 350 of Evin prison, have lodged their 2nd letter of complaint to “The Court of Judicial Discipline” on Jan 05 2014. The first complaint led to the acquittal of judge Salavati and the 2nd letter has not achieved results yet.
The mentioned jailed Gonabadi Dervishes who are also Majzooban Noor news website’s managers, Hamid-Reza Moradi, Mostafa Daneshjou, Farshid Yadollahi Farsi, Amir Eslami, Omid Behroozi, Afshin Karampour and Reza Entesari have been sentenced to a total of over 60 years imprisonment by judge Salavati. They have refused to attend their court trials in protest of the court’s lack of qualification and the illegal process of their cases and up to now.
