Majzooban Noor Website’s Managers And Lawyers Begun Political Fasting In Ward 350 Evin Prison

On Tuesday 23 Khordad 1391 ( Jun 12 , 2012), on the third anniversary of the disputed 2009 Iranian presidential election, in ward 350 of Evin prison, Majzooban Noor website’s managers and Gonabadi dervishes’s lawyers begun “political fasting”

in protest to the lack of investigation into the death of Hoda Saber, a political prisoner who died after a hunger strike and subsequent heart attack on 10 June 2011 and also in protest to increase constraints and psychological pressure on prisoners by the judiciary and security agencies.

The name of these Gonabadi dervishes who are held in ward 209 and 350 of Evin prison for more than nine months are as follows : “Farshid Yadollahi, Amir Eslami, Hamid Reza Moradi, Reza Entesari, Afshin Karampour and Mostafa Daneshjou”.

According to several sources, a group of political prisoners inside ward 350 has been on hunger strike over the past three days too.

It is notable that, ward 350 of Evin Prison is a general section for political and religious prisoners but they are excluded of many of their legal rights including in-person visits, telephone calls, medical furlough, “legal holiday” and medical attention.

Last week, the families of 46 political prisoners in Ward 350 wrote a letter to Tehran’s Prosecutor, criticizing the lawlessness and deprivation of prisoners; basic rights. “We do not wish for our loved ones privileges beyond the rights other prisoners enjoy, rights that were observed even in this prison prior to your oversight of post-election political prisoners inside Ward 350. Are these too much to ask in a country that claims to implement Islamic justice?” stated the letter.
