Behnam Ebrahimzadeh Sentenced to another 9 Years in Prison

Behnam Ebrahimzadeh has been sentenced to another 9 years in prison in relation to the events of “Black Thursday” of ward 350 in Evin prison.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Behnam Ebrahimzadeh was transferred to ward 209 in Evin prison after the incidents in ward 350 of Evin Prison in April last year, which is known as “Black Thursday”, and his home was searched. Ministry of Intelligence, in this regard, has opened a new case for this political prisoner that led to another 9 and a half years imprisonment sentence for him.

Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, who is in Rajai Shar prison in exile and is serving his previous sentence in an apolitical ward (ward 2). He was tried on 29th December, in branch 15 of Revolutionary Court in Tehran, preside by Judge Salavati and charged with collusion and relation with MEK from inside the prison, propaganda against the regime by contacting Ahmad Shaheed and keeping satellite equipment at his home, and was sentenced to 9 and a half years imprisonment. However, his relatives deny Behnam’s relation with MEK.

Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, Labour and Children’s rights activist, was arrested by security forces on 12th June 2010 and by the Revolutionary Court was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and in the appeal court his sentence was reduced to 5 years imprisonment. He is serving the 4th year of his sentence.

It is to say that, his young son is suffering from Leukaemia (Blood Cancer).
