Ward 350 of Evin prison witness to the most unprecedented violence against political prisoners within the last two decades.

According to Kaleme, agents from the IRGC, Ministry of Intelligence, and over hundreds of prison guards violently raided Ward 350 of Evin prison and beat up prisoners using batons and other weapons. At least 30 prisoners were injured during the violent assault and 4 political prisoners are so far known to have been transferred to hospitals with sustained injuries. 32 political prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement during the brutal altercation.

Political prisoners had protested the aggressive nature of prison inspections, which culminated in today’s vicious skirmish. The authorities videotaped and took pictures of their actions.

The level of violence against the prisoners was so brutal that the mini bus transferring them to solitary confinement and the prison infirmary, and also the outside area were permeated with bloodstains.

Omid Behrouzi sustained a ruptured vein, Esmail Bazergani sustained broken ribs and Ali Amini sustained a broken head. An unnamed prisoner sustained a heart attack and was transferred to the CCU. In addition a number of prisoners sustained broken arms and legs.

Among the known injuries resulting from the violent attack on Thursday, Omid Behrouzi sustained a ruptured vein in his hand, Esmail Barzegari sustained broken ribs, Akbar Amini sustained a broken head, a prisoner was transferred to the CCU after suffering a heart attack, several sustained broken hands and feet. There were visible signs of bleeding, inflammation and bruising on scores of political prisoners’ bodies.

Reports indicate that prisoners were handcuffed, blindfolded and severely beaten up as they were transferred to solitary units in Ward 240 or other unknown cells. There is no news about the health or situation of the transferred prisoners.

A group of the prisoners who were only singing slogans as an act of protest were brutally beaten up in the outside area and hallways of the prison. The soldiers and plainclothes officials aimed for their heads from the top of the stairs and beat them with batons. Colonel Amanian, the head commander in charge of security in Evin prison personally witnessed all the brutality that took place in the prison.

Abdolfattah Soltani, Mohammad Amin Hadavi, Saeed Matinpour, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, Behzad Arabgol and Hootan Dolati are among the known political prisoners who were violently transferred to solitary confinement.

All compassionate human beings, anywhere and of any rank, are urged to not remain silent about the bloodshed of defenseless prisoners, and to in good conscience take any possible action to demand the halt of brutality against prisoners by the ruling authorities.
