Gohar Eshghi, the mother of blogger Sattar Beheshti, who died five days into his arrest in custody of the Cyber Police, has once again spoken out against the judicial delays in processing his case.

The Jaras website reports that Eshghi has called on the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, saying: “If we live in an Islamic country, why is it that the murder of my son is not prosecuted?”

Eshghi goes on to say: “Six months have passed since the death of my child, I am still in limbo, and his file has not reached the courts. If this goes on, I will stage a sit-in at the court.”

Eshghi stresses that she will not sit still until the perpetrators of her son’s death are taken to court.

Sattar Beheshti was arrested for running a blog featuring critical views of government policies. He was allegedly tortured and abused while in custody, and five days later his family was informed of his death.

While the head of the Tehran Cyber Police was dismissed after the incident, the case has not been officially processed by the judiciary.
